interdisciplinary art & design
The University of Maryland developed this magazine to promote its research efforts to the business, science and government communities of the Mid-Atlantic region.
For an article about wireless security, I hired Tomer Hanuka to illustrate the artwork’s storyline about two high tech thieves’ attempts to break into a corporate computer network.
A later issue covered biotechnology’s benefits to our food supply. For the cover, I hired an artist to design a silver egg cup with a stem in the shape of a double-helix. We photographed it on a “plate” of hay for the cover. For the lead story about poultry vaccines, I hired illustrator Celia Johnson to create a chicken factory with an assembly line that ends at a vaccination station. This story won a Silver award from the University College and Designer Association.
