interdisciplinary art & design
Construction of the University of Maryland’s new performing arts center was nearing completion and the advancement office needed some print materials to promote the center’s naming opportunities, many of which were grand performance spaces.
They needed something fast, but the building wasn’t finished yet. As soon as seats were installed, we rushed in to take photographs.
We needed an extremely wide-angle lens to capture the large spaces on film. Natural curves of rows of seats and stages were accentuated by the distortion of the lens. I picked up on these curves and carried them into the design of the brochure and its folder, which opens like curtains on a stage.
